Schedule me in to work while I'm on holiday? Enjoy the stress! I put in my holiday time more than a month before I would leave which is more than enough for where I work. I work part-time and put in one day of extra work before leaving. Only my time had already gone in that day and they had to take it out entirely. Since I can only put in time off four weeks before, they couldn't reschedule it or take out one day.

Now, they promised me I wouldn't get scheduled in and would make sure everyone knew. However, they ignored this promise and still scheduled me in. I sent them a message out of politeness but I don't think anyone's read it. I've got many calls in my history but too bad can't pick up, I'm out of the country! Enjoy having to put in extra effort in that *hit minimum wage job! I might quit after the holiday anyways and work somewhere else that isn't so dreadful... 573 口 29 Д ✓ Share

    • night-otter 6d ago I was forced to cancel a vacation due to work priorities. Was laid off 2 weeks later. Since then, once my vacation time is approved and in the system, I'm not working on those dates. I don't care how big the priorities are. Never had any repercussions. 117 Reply

Then the manager told me that if I didn't find my own replacement, I'd have to work anyway. I did refrain from laughing in his face, but I definitely made it clear that I wouldn't be there, and didn't care about a replacement. 67 Reply

Throwaway5783-hike 6d ago Had this happen to me. Scheduled well in advance and then got a call telling me I MUST come in because someone else is off and I'll be FIRED if I don't come down to the shop. I laughed and hung up then caught a 5ft shark 20minutes later. They didn't appreciate me sending a picture of my catch. 53 Reply

    • dsly4425 4d ago I had a job call me once asking if I was coming in for the shift they didn't schedule me for when I was already at work at my other job at the time. Then got mad when I wouldn't abandon my patients. (One job was retail one job was a supported living agency). Yeah I'm not catching a criminal record for a 4 hour shift at a major retailer who barely still exists. + 6 + Reply

Cultural-Revenue4000 • 3d ago This seems to be a new thing managers are doing. My daughter's job did this too. First time, the manager apologized and covered it herself. The second time, they started mistreating her as a result. Let's just say, she didn't hang around long after that. My son gave his availability and the manager kept scheduling him to leave 30-60 minutes after his latest availability. He said something, but they didn't do anything about it, so my kid just left at the time he said

Imaginary-Yak-6487 6d ago I'm one of these workers but salary. I'm the only one in my office. I have 2 maintenance guys. I'm an apartment manager. I used to have an assistant manager. Got told a while back to make a choice. I can have a ft assistant or a ft maintenance tech. My Maint super had been working by himself for a while. I chose the tech. I can handle the office & paperwork. But need two guys for repairs & u it turns.

I get sent to help other sites & I train new managers & asst mngrs. Locally, I'm the most seasoned manager. 10+ years with my current company but 18 years in the industry. I know a little bit. What I don't know, i will ask. HUD & Florida Housing is constantly changing. It's hard to keep up sometimes. I was on FMLA last year for female cancer treatment & surgery. I had close to 200hrs of pto & used my short term disability benefits, so I was able to have full pay while recovering.

I'm saving up pto again bc my husband now has prostate cancer & is undergoing treatment. I never hardly take vacation. The last one I took was in 2017 to travel up to where my son lives & was getting married. Since I do put in a ton of hours, I can take Friday or a Monday off for a 3 or 4 day weekend & still stay above 40hrs. Just wish I got paid for the extra time. But if I don't do what is needed, I get behind & it's hard to catch up.

When I was out, no one really covered my property. Stuff was done wrong & I had to go back & correct the files. My residents were bc i wasn't there. Granted, they're spoiled, lol. I love most of them, but a couple entitled ones, I don't really care for but am respectful. I do my job to the best of my ability & I love almost every minute of it. But this week has been long. I think it's lasted 3 months. ↑ 37 Reply
